Once your loved one has been cremated, their ashes will be returned to you. What you do with their ashes will depend on a few factors, including what your loved one’s wishes were and what your own preferences are. Other family members may also have their opinions on how the ashes of their loved one should be preserved or scattered.
1. Create Jewellery from Ashes
Ashes from a cremation may be turned into a diamond for use in beautiful pieces of jewellery that will forever remind you of that special person. You can also have ashes enclosed in a vial or locket. Since these pieces use only a small part of the ashes, you can either make a piece for each person who loved the deceased, or you can do something else with the remaining ashes, while keeping a piece of them with you.
2. Preserve the Ashes in Resin
There are many resin artists who create amazing pieces of art that can incorporate ashes. They can also include pieces of memorabilia such as a favourite flower, a ring, or other items that represent the person in their art. With colourful expressions and beautiful designs, these resin pieces can be a wonderful way to cherish the memory of someone special.
3. Add Them to a Coral Reef
There are organisations that will turn ashes into a piece of coral reef to help preserve the wonders of the ocean. If your loved one was someone who greatly loved the sea or felt strongly about sustainable living, then this could be the ideal final resting place.
4. Scatter Ashes in a Perfect Place
There may be a special place that the deceased loved. Perhaps they were always at the beach or forever dreaming of climbing a mountain. Either way, you can give them what they loved most by scattering their ashes in that perfect place. Some people have even taken a journey around the country to leave a little of their loved one’s ashes at several special places.
5. Create a Fireworks Display
For that daredevil in your life, what could be more perfect than an incredible fireworks display that utilises their ashes in the fireworks? It’s the perfect final send off and one that will remind everyone of the firecracker that they love so much.
There are so many wonderful ways to say goodbye and these are just a few of the methods you can use to make that goodbye something special.
